As part of the LAEP Department’s Thunderdome debate series, Professor Catherine Dee will debate the value of drawing in the design process, and its role in a contemporary design education, with Berkeley’s Professor Chip Sullivan. The conversation will address differences in American and European approaches to teaching drawing in landscape architecture, and the relationships between hand and digital drawing. Both Chip and Catherine are authors of prominent books about drawing in design, but from different positions. The debate will be accompanied by an exhibit of Catherine Dee’s work (February 2-March 5, Wurster Gallery), and she will lecture about that work the evening before (Monday, February 3, at 6:30 pm in Wurster 112).
